K-Pop Merch Shopping in Seoul
Myeongdong
The tourist-friendly hub for K-pop merch. Every label has an official store here. Prices are standard but the density makes one-stop shopping easy.
Hongdae (Sangsu/Hapjeong)
Where the unofficial, fan-made merch lives. Independent stores stock rare photocards, custom goods, and limited editions you won't find in official stores.
Must-visit shops:
- KTown4U Offline Store (Myeongdong) — largest official selection
- Cokodive (Hongdae) — unboxing station, photo card trading
- Soundwave (Sinchon) — legendary for idol fan meets
Idol Photocard Trading
Trading photocards (포카) is a massive subculture. Head to Hongdae subway station exits 8/9 on weekends — there are impromptu trading markets where fans spread their collections on the ground.
Fan Cafes and Themed Coffee Shops
Birthday cafes (생일카페) are temporary themed cafes that fans rent to celebrate idol birthdays. Check Twitter/X with #생일카페 + your idol's name + 서울 (Seoul) to find current events.
How they work:
- Free entry, purchase one drink minimum
- Special goods gifted with purchase (postcards, stickers)
- Decorated entirely in the idol's theme
- Usually run for 1–2 weeks around birthdays
